DaVita Manager Policy, Advocacy, and Communication in Vernon Hills, Illinois

Under the general direction of the Sr. Director of Clinical Operations, the Policy, Advocacy, and Communications Manager (PACM) of Lifeline is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies and activities designed to address local and federal policies to support patient, physician partners and Lifeline Teammates in advocating for the betterment of patient care. The PACM is responsible for educating policy makers, physician partners and Lifeline leaders on the potential impact of future local and federal healthcare policy changes including changes in rates and billing codes. The PACM also creates and manages strategies for external communication and publication of Lifeline clinical results to support lifeline as an industry leader. Represents Lifeline at local and national advocacy meetings.

  • Develop and implement an intentional and comprehensive framework for advocacy and policy change efforts to formulate, coordinate, and integrate advocacy strategy with the communications strategy. Build strategic partnerships with organizations that will assist in meeting desired advocacy agenda. (30%)
  • Develop strategic relationships with key elected officials, community groups, neighborhood and business leaders. Coordinate advocacy efforts for community members and other interested parties. Attend public and private meeting involving major projects. (30%)
  • Work with Director of Marketing to ensure advocacy messaging included in communication such as, the website and social media, brochures, flyers, quarterly e-newsletters, fact sheets, position papers and other written materials are accurate and up-to-date. Prepare talking points for public relations opportunities including press events/meetings, legislative visits, and community events as directed by the GM. (20%)
  • Coordinate and implement advocacy activities with key elected officials, Lifeline leaders and other advocacy groups. (15%)
  • Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 6-8 Years
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Four years’ experience in a public advocacy
  • Experience in policy review and creation
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel PowerPoint and Outlook

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree
  • 6-8 Years healthcare experience
  • Experience in policy review and creation
  • Knowledge of Creative Suite Software
