DaVita Chief Medical Officer - Lifeline in Vernon Hills, Illinois

Position can be located either in Vernon Hills, IL or Denver, CO

Role andResponsibilities:

Under the direction of the Lifeline

General Manager the Chief Medical Officer is engaged in defining the overall

clinical vision for the organization and provides clinical direction to

individual clinical functions within Lifeline. The CMO is required to be a

contributing member of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer under the

direction of the DaVita Kidney Care CMO along with other DaVita organizational

CMO partners in collaboration with business leaders in determining overall

business strategy and direction of the organization. The Lifeline CMO provides medical oversight,

expertise and leadership to ensure the delivery of affordable, quality

healthcare services. Responsibilities also include the strategy, development

and implementation of innovative clinical programs, clinical guidance of new

service lines, physician training and accreditation oversight through the collaboration

with strategic businesspartners.

The CMO will also represent Lifeline at required meetings with DaVita,

nephrology societies and affiliated agencies. As a licensed MD the CMO may also

provide direct patient services in addition to the duties in administration.


The Chief Medical Officer’s duties

shall include, but not be limitedto:


and implement the clinical direction for the

organization by defining and articulating clinical strategy/roadmap,

clinical policy and procedure and clinical programs to meet organizational

quality and growth objectives.


direct clinical medical services in the area of board certified (or board

eligible) medical specialty in accordance with the highest applicable standards

of medical and professional practice and in full accordance with health center

protocols and policies.

Keep abreast of emerging models in health care delivery;

identify and define newand

innovative strategies to achieve business goals andobjectives.


engage in business development opportunities to include presenting Lifeline

Vascular clinical and business capabilities to potential partners, legislative

and regulatory officials and other keyconstituents.


with physician leadership within the broader DaVita Enterprise.


in senior management business and clinical strategy developmentand implementation.


and leverage cross functional collaborative relationships to achieveshared companygoals. This includes

working side-by-side and at a detail level with Clinical and Field operation

teams, Lifeline corporate leaders and physician partners on

programs/initiatives and outcomes.


collaboration to both internal and external healthcare teammembers.


and implement strategic goals related to the quality improvement, management

programs and accreditationstandards.


overall direction and coordination of continuing medical education, training,

and support for health care personnel; chair provider meetings and collaborate

with Clinical Services Director for clinical meetings; assist in medical

decision-making, as requested and as necessary or prudent.


with analytics and development of quality measures for new payment models

(value based/risk based paymentstructures).


commitment to service excellence in all internal and external relationships,

addressing service excellence deficits in staff, and in performance of all

duties and responsibilities of this position.


additional assistance within and outside of clinical arena, as requested and/or

as appropriate, to ensure the ongoing success of the organization.


and oversee annual publication strategy


medical services and operations are in compliance with all applicable

regulatory and licensing agencies.


all matters of clinical compliance and provide timely recommendations for

corrective action and quality improvement


on enterprise oversight groups for ESCO and other CMS demonstration projects


regular updates on clinical strategy to DaVita senior leadership

Education and Experience


unrestricted license to practice medicine and Certified by the American Board of

Medical Specialties


minimum of 5 years professional post-residency experience with direct patient

care in interventional vascular procedures


three years’ experience in progressively responsible administrative or

management-related positions within a complex health care environment


experience providing services and exercising leadership in a culturally and

linguistically diverse setting, with demonstrated success.


Knowledge of managed

healthcare systems, medical quality assurance,

quality improvement and riskmanagement

and current trends in healthcare delivery and reimbursement

Ability to succeed in a “Big Company” environment
