Overview :

Responsible for performing moderately complex tasksnecessary to maintain and improve the revenue cycle. Provides business expertise for all systemsand the execution of user testing of new functionalities or upgrades thataffect the department. Performs the data entry of medical services and inputs,updates and corrects patient information into the system from Encounter Forms anddocuments in accordance with policies and procedures as established by thedepartment.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently exhibits behavior and communicationskills that demonstrate HealthCare Partners’ (HCP) commitment to superiorcustomer service, including quality, care and concern with each and everyinternal and external customer.

  • Audits work for accuracy, balances against controlsand corrects mistakes.

  • Inputs and corrects patient demographic informationin the system.

  • Assigns financial classifications to patientaccounts.

  • Audits and resolves Enterprise EHR taskscommunicating with site designees.

  • Researches and inputs all interface fatal errors toensure complete and correct input of encounter data including Enterprise EHR,Digital Radiology and PatientKeeper interfaces.

  • Resolves Transaction Editing System (TES) editsincluding missing information edits.

  • Participates in the implementation of new systemsand functionalities.

  • Reviews and reports discrepancies in system designor set-up.

  • Performs routine testing to keep departmentapplications functioning which include testing updates in dictionaries, testingnew TES edits and assisting with system upgrades.

  • Escalates issues that lie outside of requiredcompletion dates to appropriate levels of management.

  • Serves as a Team Leader on projects as required.

  • Uses, protects, and discloses HCP patients’protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health InsurancePortability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.



  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. Includes special certification required for specific jobs.



  • Over 3 year and up to and including 5 years of related experience.

  • CPT / ICD9 coding experience.


  • Over 5 years of medical billing or related job experience.

  • GE Centricity Business experience.


  • Computer literate.

  • Proficient with Microsoft applications (Word and Excel).

  • 10 key by touch.

  • Knowledge of CPT and IDC-9 coding.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in an environment with fluctuating workloads.

  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and needs of user community.

  • Ability to solve problems systematically using sound business judgment.
