We are seeking a MedicalEconomics Analyst to join our talented team!

Overview:

The Medical Economics Analyst provides value-addedanalytical support to key leadership as well as various departments within thecompany. The position will utilize thecandidate’s highly technical skills in order to create analyses, generatereports and build processes that will add actionable value to ourorganization. The position will reportdirectly to the Senior Manager of Medical Economics while also taking directionfrom the CFO, senior management and medical directors.

* Essential Functions: *

The analyst will be responsible fortranslating complex data into constructive information and will assistend-users to support decision making.He or she will research, manipulateand prepare complex data and be able to report on its results.He/she develops and maintains reporting datawarehouses using SQL Server, MS Access and/or other relevant businessintelligence software.He/she will be tasked with identifyingopportunities for improved savings and/or accuracy in reimbursement of premium

Qualifications

* Education: *

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

  • Preferred: Master degree

* Experience: *

  • 3 years business decision support or financial analyticalsupport using SQL, SAS, MS Access and frontend reporting tools (SSRS, Excel, MSAccess, Tableau, etc.)

  • Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, dynamic visualizations,VBA, macros) required.

  • Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid programs or financialreporting in the health insurance industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively interpret data and communicatefindings/recommendations both orally and in writing appropriate to the audience

  • Ability to utilize database technology to effectively querydata and generate reporting analyses for senior management and medicaldirectors

  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements andunderstand the economic drivers relevant to the managed care industry

  • Understanding of medical terminology as it pertains tomanaged care data environment including but not limited to: ICD-9, ICD-10,CPT-4, DRGs and risk adjustment

  • Understanding of the managed care industry as it pertains toinsurance, physician groups, risk contracting and incentive arrangements

  • Understanding of medical claims and the components andvariables that affect the nature of payment reimbursement

  • Understanding of premium and funding as it pertains tophysician group contracts

  • Understanding of the variables and/or components thatcomprise Medicare Advantage and Medicaid premiums

  • Ability to take direction from and communicate effectivelywith senior management and medical directors on a daily basis

  • A strong focus on process improvement and a proven trackrecord of prior improvements

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the various types ofcontractual relationships payors may have with providers, including globalrisk, capitation and risk-sharing arrangements

  • Organizational and project management skills to manageprojects effectively; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Exercises self-awareness; monitors impact on others

  • Receptive to and seeks out feedback; uses self-discipline toadjust to feedback

  • Ability to conduct analytic work in an efficient manner withminimal re-work including effective use of the peer review process

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;outstanding interpersonal skills; the ability to relate positively withindividuals at all levels both internally and externally .
