* Overview * :

Reporting to a Clinic Administrator,our Medical Assistants provide routine patient care within his/her level oftraining. Role functions under thedirection/guidance of the clinical supervisor and the physician in accordancewith relevant state statutes.

* Essential Functions: *

Underdirection and supervision of physician, administers immunizations, EKGs, earwashes, and other patient services.

Greetspatients in courteous and polite manner.

Assistsin simple office and minor surgical procedures.

Assistswith the education of the patient and/or family as directed by thephysician. Contacts patients as neededto give testing results instructions from the physician and scheduling ofnecessary visits.

Conductsall front office functions as requested.

Answerstelephone inquiries and triage calls.

Maintainspatient medical records in accordance with JSA policy and maintains properassembly of medical records.

Responsiblefor all laboratory duties including drawing, spinning, prepping blood fortesting and maintaining appropriate logs.

Maintainsequipment and adequate stock levels of consumables in laboratory area. Acts as liaison between all independent labservices and the center.

MonitorsOSHA compliance of center laboratory.

Entersall test requisitions and encounters in the computer.

Performsvenipuncture and administers medications as required under the direction of aphysician.

Otherduties as assigned.


* Education: *

Highschool graduate, GED or equivalent

* Experience: *

Preferred:Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program with a valid MA schoolcertificate OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) OR Certified MedicalAssistant (CMA) OR 2 – 5 years of practical clinical experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Abilityto perform EKGs

Preferred:Strong phlebotomy skills

Abilityto communicate effectively with patients and all levels of personnel in aprofessional, courteous and effective manner with excellent customer serviceskills

Mustbe able to display excellent telephone/switchboard etiquette

Abilityto multi- task in a high paced environment with good organizational skills

Abilityto evaluate patient needs, administer prescribed medications, assist physician

withexaminations and treatment, prepare and apply dressings, and instruct patientsin health measures and self-care as instructed by the physician

Abilityto follow written and oral instructions and to work with general guidance

Demonstratedclerical skills (typing, filing, telephone courtesy)

Workingknowledge of basic Medical Assistant principles and practices

Abilityto document and report findings and observations

Knowledgeof medical equipment and maintenance

Abilityto provide on-site emergency treatment within scope of practice

Knowledgeof HIPAA regulations

Medicaloffice experience preferred

Knowledgeof medical coding preferred

Abilityto read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently

Abilityto travel may be required
