The Director of Strategy & Special Projects will lead high priority strategic and operational initiatives reporting directly to a Group Vice President (GVP) responsible for one of DaVita’s operating groups. The Director will play a key role as a thought partner, strategic leader, and internal consultant. This position is also responsible for driving operational initiatives within the group, including monthly reporting on results. Finally, this Director will take on many responsibilities of a chief of staff, helping prepare important communications and ensuring the GVP’s office functions smoothly. Representative activities include development of the 3-year strategic plan for the group, identification of new growth opportunities, and monthly reporting on operational results. Topic will likely include:

Strategic Process

  • Play a key role in the development of group’s 3-year strategy
  • Develop metrics and track the progress of the group’s strategy
  • Develop “game-changing” insights that lead to differential growth

Growth Strategy

  • Play point on all growth-related initiatives
  • Lead quarterly strategy sessions with divisional leadership teams
  • Act as a strategic thought partner with GVP and divisional teams to evaluate opportunities

Special Projects

  • Drive the strategic process on internal consulting projects within the Group and other business units
  • Responsible for developing the hypothesis and analysis framework
  • Drive the work of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Lead the presentation and recommendation of action steps

Executive Communications

  • Prepare executive-level presentations to share with leadership including CEO, COO, and CFO
  • Responsible for synthesizing numerous sources of data and key analysis and translating into specific actions

The Director will join a team of highly motivated individuals with previous leadership experience from McKinsey, Bain, BCG and various investment banks, as well as clinical expertise. The individual is expected to independently lead projects across a variety of topics and collaborate with a larger team of Directors. Through their work, the Director will gain a strong understanding of the business and significant exposure to senior leaders, positioning them well for future opportunities within strategy or elsewhere in the DaVita Village.


•Top-tier MBA or advanced degree (e.g., MD or PhD)

•2+ years post-graduate degree experience in consulting, investment banking, or similar

•Demonstrated expertise in healthcare, especially the payor or provider space a major plus

•Ability to engage directly with senior level executives (e.g., CEO, President, etc.)
