OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Responsiblefor providing professional nursing care by assessing, planning, implementingand evaluating the care of patients under the supervision of a clinician orRegistered Nurse. Delegates tasks asneeded to professionals and para-professional employees. Coordinates activitiesand works closely with clinicians and staff to maintain efficient departmentfunctions and ensures successful operation of the department. Responsible forperforming operational duties as required under the supervision of the siteadministrator or designee.

Works as a Registered Nurse primarily in the UrgentCare Center (UCC), Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) or specialty department.
Performs comprehensive nursing assessments.
Performs specialized procedures within the scope ofpractice of a Registered Nurse.
Participates as a Code Blue responder toemergencies within the site.
Performs additional leadership duties includingNurse Educator and/or Telephone Advice Nurse.
Obtains, interprets, records and reports vitalsigns (temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure), height, weight, andother pertinent patient information to clinician.
Prepares patient for examination and otherprocedures.
Develops an appropriate nursing care plan.
Implements a plan of care by performing nursinginterventions and assisting with procedures.
Instructs patient on procedural preparations.
Administers medication and other therapeuticmodalities within the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse.
Collects labels and transports various specimens toappropriate destinations.
Performs patient and family teaching.
Maintains clinical standards outlined in theclinical operations policies and procedures manual. Identifies deficiencies and recommendschanges.
Documents and maintains records of medical andnursing procedures utilizing CIS.
Ensures adequate levels of supplies are maintained.
Ensures that all equipment is maintained.
Performs telephone screening and advice under thedirection of clinician.
Directs patients to appropriate levels of care andauthorizes outside services.
Notifies pharmacies of new prescriptions andauthorizations of refills as ordered by clinician.
Participates in educational programs to enhancenursing knowledge.
Adheres to Universal Precautions at all times.
Adheres to safety policies and procedures at alltimes.
Uses, protects, and discloses HCP patients’protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health InsurancePortability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Ability to assume Charge Nurse role (as assigned by Nursing management):
Serves as the “floor leader” and supervises thepatient flow as well as the daily nursing activities in the UCC or ASCdepartment.
Coordinates with clinicians and staff to plan dailywork assignments according to staff abilities, patient flow and procedures.
Coordinates break schedules and responsible forhandling sick calls.
Ensures that all abnormal reports are communicatedto clinicians.
Ensures appropriate steps for narcotic count andreconciliation.
Ensures bio-hazardous materials are disposed of inaccordance to regulatory guidelines.
Ensures all daily quality control tests and logsare maintained.
Assists nursing supervisor by ensuring compliancefor certifications, competencies and compliance measures.
Assists nursing supervisor with annual evaluationsof staff and competency validation.
Participates in quality improvement projectsincluding HCC and P4P.
Serves as CIS specialist.
Assists in orientation of new staff, TSU andregistry employees.
Supports and participates in company wideinitiatives (i.e. patient satisfaction goals).
Serves as backup for staff as needed.
1 or 2 years of post-high school education or adegree from a two-year college.
Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
Current California RN license.
Specialty certifications in OR, OB,GI, ER, CEN or CCRN.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA)or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and PediatricLife Support (PALS) certifications.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Over 3 year and up to and including 5 years ofexperience.
Experience in specialty areas such as OR, OB, GI, ER, CEN, CCRN or Urgent Care.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Ability to type 25 wpm.
Manual dexterity to use/handle equipment andinstruments.
Must be knowledgeable of Nursing and medicalprocedures, state and federal laws, pertaining to ambulatory care.
Must be skilled in phlebotomy, IV therapy and careof specialized IV devices.
Must be proficient in EKG interpretation.
Must be proficient in performing ProceduralSedation for adult and pediatric patients.
Must be proficient in performing moderatelyCLIA-waived test.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to concurrently perform multiple tasks.
Must possess the ability to make independentdecisions when circumstances warrant action.
