Overview:

  • The Pharmacy Support Center (RxSC) Manager is responsible for all pharmacy services provided by the RxSC. This includes refill authorization services, prior authorization processing, phone Medication Therapy Management (MTM) / Complete Medication Review (CMR) services, and customer service.

Essential Functions:

The RxSC manager is responsible for the center’s compliance with State and Federal laws as well as adherence to all HCPNV protocols and procedures. This individual also oversees the quality management of the department as well as all human resources tasks (scheduling, hiring, annual reviews, etc.) Additionally, the Pharmacy Support Center Manager is responsible for the clinical aspects of patient care including targeted interventions, comprehensive medication reviews, STARs measures and education. Functions of the Pharmacy Support Center Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, revise, and maintain medication refill protocols in collaboration with the medical staff and medical director(s)

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians in processing medication refills according to HCP NV approved refill protocols. Ensure pharmacy technicians’ compliance with all state and federal laws as well as HCPNV company policies and procedures

  • Use clinical judgement to process medication refills requests that fall slightly outside the HCP NV approved refill protocols

  • Oversee and audit tasks completed by RxSC staff.

  • Trouble shoot workflow and system processes problems. Revise such processes to resolve the identified problems; when needed

  • Collect, maintain, and manage statistical data related to RxSC processes

  • Analyze and report such data to applicable upper administration staff / directors

  • Work collaboratively with UM Pharmacy team on cost savings and QI (STARs measures) initiatives

  • Respond to monthly financial reports as requested

  • Responsible for maintenance of RxSC, Prescription Refill Service Center budget

  • Maintains clinical skills and the ability to assist with pharmacy processes as needed

  • Oversee completion of HCPNV opportunity follow-up as requested

  • Responsible for all aspects of scheduled drug utilization on site in accordance with State and Federal laws;

  • Others duties as assigned by the Associate VP of Operations or pharmacy director

  • Act as Subject Matter expert for pilot project as well as participate in required tasks during planning and execution of pilot projects.

  • Conduct MTM / CMR duties (when a program is instituted)

  • Complete prior authorization paperwork as requested by HCPNV clinics (when a program is instituted)

  • Oversee pharmacy students / interns (when and if a preceptorship program is instituted)

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current licenses and certifications from the State licensing agency;

  • Knowledge of job functions of pharmacy staff members;

  • Prior DUR/Audit and computer experience

  • Prior management experience preferred.

  • Advanced computer skills with a variety of software programs and knowledge of Internet capabilities to assist the department;

  • A proven ability to manage multiple projects;

  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills;

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
