OVERVIEW OF POSITION
Responsiblefor performing moderately complex and/or specialized patient-orientedprocedures under the supervision of a clinician or Registered Nurse (RN) toensure that patients receive appropriate care. Responsible for performingoperational duties as required under the supervision of the site administratoror designee.
Consistently exhibits behavior and communicationskills that demonstrate HealthCare Partners’ (HCP) commitment to superiorcustomer service, including quality, care and concern with each and everyinternal and external customer.
Directs patient to proper exam/treatment area andprepares patient for examinations and other procedures.
Assists in the transportation of patient andpatient flow.
Obtains records and reports vital signs and anyother pertinent patient information to the RN or clinician.
Administers medication, performs various patienttests, and instructs patients on procedural preparations under the supervisionof the clinician or RN.
Notifies pharmacies of new prescriptions andauthorizations of new refills as ordered by the clinician.
Collects, labels and transports various specimensto appropriate destinations.
Maintains and cleans exam/treatment areas andmedical equipment.
Maintains logs, records of medical procedures andinventories of supplies.
Performs telephone screening.
Adheres to Universal Precautions and safety policyand procedures at all times.
Uses, protects, and discloses HCP patients’protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health InsurancePortability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
1 or 2 years of post-high school education or adegree from a two-year college.
Graduation from an accredited Licensed VocationalNurse program.
Current California LVN license.
I.V. therapy and phlebotomy certification.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA)or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross).
- Over 1 year and up to and including 3 years of experience.
- Previous Licensed Vocational Nurse work experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Manual dexterity to use/handle equipment andinstruments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Abilityto concurrently perform multiple tasks.
