Under general supervision, coordinates direct and indirect patient care related to cardiac pacemakers or defibrillator systems, providing necessary support to the physician and colleagues within established guidelines. Provides quality patient care by assuring a smooth work and patient flow within the department. Acts as liaison between patient/physician and other departments. Acts as a role model for his/her peers and other members of the health care team and serves as a resource to others. Interacts with physicians, patients, families, other staff, and ancillary services in a caring, respectful, and professional manner.

Schedule: Schedule to be determined. Average 30 hours per week (0.75 FTE)

The first two weeks of training require full time Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm. This is not optional. Please ensure you available to attend training before applying to this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Documents patient information in the electronic health record (EPIC) following standard work guidelines

  • Verifies appropriate function of the cardiac pacemaker or defibrillator system.

  • Collects all available data from the device in regard to functions and events since the last evaluation.

  • Assesses the patient’s condition in relation to the pacemaker or defibrillator therapy selected.

  • Provides educational and emotional support for patients receiving cardiac pacemaker or defibrillator therapy, and for their families.

  • Detects, identifies, and verifies suspected battery depletion and component malfunction, and recommends appropriate monitoring action.

  • Correlates and distributes information, and takes appropriate action regarding manufacturers’ product alerts and recalls.

  • Provides information and services to the patient’s referring physician.

  • Acts as an educational resource to other clinic staff and physicians.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing program (RN or BSN).


  • One year current clinical experience.


  • Current State RN license.

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.


  • Knowledge of professional theory and practice to give & evaluate patient care.

  • Knowledge and ability to teach and apply current theories, techniques and practice.


  • Skill in applying & modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care.

  • Critical thinking skills, ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain good relationships with medical staff, management, customers, and other departments.

  • Reads, speaks, understands and writes clearly in English.

  • Works with initiative, energy and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.
