Under general supervision, performs maintenance service and repairs to building structure, mechanical equipment, furnishings including preventative maintenance. Performs a variety of skilled to very skilled (journeyman level) duties and tasks. Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complicated problems.

Schedule: 6am - 2:30 pm, 40 hours a week (1.0 FTE)

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for maintaining all mechanical equipment relating to the operation of Specialty, Advance Imaging and Surgery Center type facilities. Mechanical equipment includes HVAC and related building controls, plumbing, electrical, generators, pumps , boilers, and other equipment located within these facilities.

  • Performs lead role in major repairs and installation projects and preventative maintenance, including routine and specific assignments. May perform duties if required.

  • Completes general maintenance tasks as assigned

  • Assembles, moves, installs and repairs desks, file cabinets, chairs and other furniture and fixtures.

  • Repairs floor and wall coverings and painted surfaces. Removes graffiti.

  • Performs electrical work including safety checks of equipment, testing generators and emergency equipment.

  • Performs janitorial tasks as needed or assigned

  • Performs exterior building and grounds maintenance as assigned by supervisor.

  • Keeps supervisor informed of any unsafe items or conditions

  • Meets daily with Staff to discuss needs, procedures, and assignments.

  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.

  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs.



  • Minimum: High school diploma, or GED.

  • Preferred: Trade or vocational school diploma.


  • Minimum: 1-3 years of experience

  • Preferred: 5 or more years of experience

  • Experienced in one or more trades such as plumbing, automation controls, refrigeration, welding, electrical repairs or installation, machine servicing and HVAC mechanical systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of building maintenance concepts, specifically in Healthcare Facilities and/or Surgery Centers.

  • Basic knowledge of Bio-Med maintenance tasks and repairs. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

  • Knowledge of building maintenance concepts, plumbing, and electric wiring.

  • Knowledge of common safety codes, hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

  • Skill in using precision tools.

  • Skill in reading blueprints and diagrams.

  • Skill in manual and finger dexterity.

  • Skill in making spatial measurements.

  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.

  • Ability to follow instructions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff and vendors.

  • Ability to communicate clearly.
