Overview:

The Director of Special Projects will lead high priority ComplianceDepartment strategic initiatives reporting directly to the Senior VicePresident and Associate General Counsel, Compliance for DaVita MedicalGroup. The Director will play a key roleas a thought partner, strategic leader, and project manager. This position may also be asked to supportcore programmatic processes including policyimplementation, training, monitoring, and investigatory activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently exhibits behavior andcommunication skills that demonstrate DMG’s commitment to superior customerservice, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal andexternal customer.

  • Assists with management of national andmarket level compliance projects including the execution of processes andcontrols to mitigate compliance risks.

  • Understands and documents keyprocesses, programs and initiatives.

  • Responds to compliance-relatedinquiries.

  • Manages compliance projects, programs,and processes and reports progress to compliance and senior leadership.

  • Lead compliance initiatives andactivities, including regular meetings with stakeholder leadership, legal, andexternal sources.

  • Manages special projects, includingroot/cause analyses, corrective action, data analytics, process improvement,and control development.

  • Conducts analysis of contracts, leasesand physician compensation.

  • Represents compliance at variousbusiness leadership meetings.

  • Develops and manages project plans forcompliance activities.

  • Assists compliance leadership in annualrisk assessment and helps drive resource prioritization for the entiredepartment.

  • Prepares and delivers education forteammates on compliance initiatives and policies.

  • Collaborates with teammates in variousdepartments and positions throughout DMG to meet shared goals and expectations.

  • Draws a balance between businessinterests and compliance, business partnering, identification ofvulnerabilities and design of systems, processes and controls to address risk.

  • Establishes and maintains positiverelationships with field clients and outside contractors

  • Understands and follows teammateguidelines, employment policies and department or company procedures.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required;Master’s/Law degree preferred

Experience:

Minimum:

  • Five (5) years’ experience inregulatory law, audit or compliance in healthcare

  • Demonstrated project managementexperience required

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with health plans ormanaged care organizations or large, decentralized healthcare providers

  • Prior experience with physician compensation/ fair market value tools

  • Prior experience conducting complianceinvestigations

  • Project Management Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of federal fraudand abuse laws required

  • Demonstrated ability to present andcommunicate effectively with executive management, functional leaders, andfield employees

  • Experience supervising work performedby outside vendors and contractors

  • Superior drafting and communicationskills required

  • Proven track record of collaborativeproblem solving with senior management and business leaders to achieve businessgoals

  • Excellent computer skills andproficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Experience with managing data analyticsprojects
