DaVita Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in Deland, Florida

The Supervisor II, Lab is responsible for supervision over multiple functions which may include: oversight of laboratory testing for core or clinical studies, monitoring the workflow from sample processing to departmental workflow through results reporting, and may provide for day-to-day guidance on teammate performance. This position evaluates and monitors compliance with service guarantees and specimen quality requirements. Position ensures adherence to corporate standard policies and procedures related to job performance, customer interactions, teammate relations, and information confidentiality for clinical research contracts and resulting clinical studies. This position is a licensed technical supervisor and may work a designated shift; day/evening/night. This position reports to the Department Manager or the Director, Lab.

Performs competency evaluations and periodic performance reviews as required.

 Provides overall direction, communication, and oversight for teammate performance by evaluating the workflow of lab tasks or assignments to ensure effective implementation and adherence to policy and procedures:

o Reviews compliance to the quality control program and collaborates in troubleshooting equipment, processes and teammate education as needed

o Monitors performance to established targets, goals or metric

o Identifies opportunities for process improvement in workflow and operational efficiencies

o Oversees teammate compliance with the training and competency program to include proficiency testing program participation

 Evaluates new assay methodology

o Provides recommendations for alternative methodology of current technical procedures as indicated and coordinate changes as required

o Assists in the development of and compliance with all departmental policies and procedures for performance and quality assurance

 Ensures duties performed within the main laboratory as needed or indicated by workload requirements.

 Resolves operational as well as quality issues related to workload.

 Facilitates team decisions, encourages debate and collaboration, handles constructive conflict resolution, organizes and supervises department teammates.

 Monitors work flow and delegate responsibilities to team members.

 Establishes staffing plans to promote the most effective use of all teammates.

 Ensures coverage during teammates absences.

 Maintains an active role in the laboratory’s quality improvement program (incident reports, CAP surveys, TAT’s, service guarantees) and ensure levels of compliance of established laboratory outcome standards are met.

 Maintains confidentiality of company’s records, clients, and personnel matters at all times as per policy

 Provides leadership to direct reports by.

 Manages all teammate employment activity such as hiring, promoting, job performance, evaluations, and disciplinary actions with appropriate approvals as required.

 Plans, organizes and supervises teammates to ensure high quality teammate customer service:

o Provides work direction for department teammates

o Determines staffing plans that promote the most effective use of all teammates; ensure coverage during teammate absences

 Maintains teammate records to include written performance evaluation of all staff records to be kept in compliance with DaVita policy and any applicable laws:

o Ensures accurate, timely processing of ePCNs

o Evaluates, records and processes teammate reviews and compensation according to company policy and in timely manner

o Reviews and approves time cards of teammates as required for payroll

 Knows, understands, follows, and implements basic wage and hour laws, federal, state and local laws and regulations, Medicare, and legislation affecting employment;

 Develops and conducts educational programs to keep teammates up-to-date on DaVita policies, new laws and regulations impacting work, and other information necessary to provide knowledgeable, accurate work output

 Maintains familiarity with and communicates to teammates DaVita programs impacting teammates including but not limited to Triple Crown.

 Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, clinical laboratory science or related science field is required

 Minimum six (6) years clinical laboratory experience is required.

 Certified by a professional laboratory certifying agency (ASCP) or (AMT) is required

 Current Florida supervisor license in Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, or Microbiology as necessary to work in respective laboratory section required

 Minimum three (3) years of prior supervisory experience preferred

 Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel and outlook, basic proficiency in MS Word required
