The Sr. ManagerMedical Coding Services is responsible for the administration and management ofthe Medical Coding Services Department. Has oversight to ensure procedures arein compliance with relevant accrediting, regulatory, and other payerrequirements. Oversees the auditing, coding, education, and support efforts ofthe department’s certified medical coders in their assigned clinics, ensuring(1) they acquire and maintain appropriate coding and related knowledge, and (2)all clinics receive consistent, accurate, timely, and high quality coding andrelated services. Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations toensure compliance and patient safety. Participation in Compliance andother important training is a condition of employment.
- 1.Manages the MedicalCoding Team on coding, auditing activities and overall education and generalsupport of the coding functions.2.Interprets, providesfeedback and acts as the subject matter expert of CMS regulations,documentation guidelines, and HCC reimbursement methodologies.3.Provides management,training. Mentoring and coaching for the coding staff to help ensure accomplishmentof organizational and departmental goals. Provides feedback and suggestions to improvecoding accuracy and documentation.4.Maintainsappropriate, consistent communications with department management, medicalstaff, and physicians as required to successfully resolve coding issues.5.Works closely withRevenue Operations to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and appropriateapplication of all edits built and operating via the Flowcast Ingenix codingscrubber software. Facilitates determination of the need for new edits, as wellas their design and implementation, helping ensure compliance whileappropriately maximizing reimbursement.6.Assists in thepreparation and monitors the department’s Operating & Capital budgets.Addresses variances in a timely manner.7.Assistsin the development policies, processes, strategies and goals that support thedepartment and the organization’s direction.8.Performs other dutiesas assigned.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college and/or a professional certification requiring formal education beyond a two year college.
Master's Degree, MBA.
- Over 3-5 years and up to and including 5 years of management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of medical billing and office automation software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Interviewing and interpersonal skills.
